Desi Valentine is a singer, songwriter and recording artist originally from London, England. His soulful, bluesy voice and unique, throw back style landed him in Los Angeles, CA to create his new music and promote his voice on the international stage.

Desi’s music is greatly influenced by Sam Cooke, Ray Charles, Ella Fitzgerald, Stevie Wonder, CCR, Amy Winehouse, Pink and Nina Simone. In 2011, Desi met Los Angeles based producer, Mike Castonguay and refined his music into a blend of Pop, Funky Blues and Soul, creating his debut EP, “Final Warning”.

The Los Angeles music scene had an incredible reaction to the Final Warning EP’s fresh and vivacious sound. Desi then collaborated with an exciting new producer Alex Koch. After years of being one of the most sought after session guitarists in LA, Alex started his own company and recording studio Digital Dust Music.Together Desi and Alex created Desi Valentine’s first US album named “Last Kiss”.

In the early months of 2014 Last Kiss caught the attention of Michael Prommer the president of Defend Music publishing.

After 6 months of headlining legendary venues like Hotel Café, House of Blues and Sayers club, Desi was asked to be the Lead male singer on an homage album to the great STAX records. This is the first time in music history that an album like this has been made with Stax catalog. Desi wrote 2 songs on this record and it will be released on Concord Music group in June 2015.

In early 2015 Desi collaborated with New York based production team Patchwork Bessie. The team consists of Spencer Bellamy the notable hip hop producer and the fresh sound of songwriter/producer Apollos. One Night Stand the song they created was released as single and caught the attention of the industry, bloggers and was launched on Okay Player and Wired magazine.  

Desi’s musical journey has included a number of incredible experiences. Desi’s voice was first recognized as a soloist singer in the original west end cast of Mel Brooks’ The Producers. He then went on to sing backing vocals for Sir Elton John, Gloria Estefan and Leona Lewis. Desi also played the lead in Fame at west end’s legendary Shaftesbury Theater in London however, Desi has stated “I loved all of these experiences but that is telling someone else’s story and I wanted to tell and write my own.”

Desi is the newest signing of Defend Music Publishing, following in the footsteps of  Sharon Jones, Eli Paperboy Reed and The Dap Kings. Desi Valentine is an artist to watch out for as he brings old school soul and blues into the world of Pop music in a major way.
